Hi! Well, it is me once again... I just remembered where I saw a similar title: Fleer/Skybox released trading cards for Star Trek: Deep Space 9 called "Memories from the Future". I guess that title was lodged in the back of my mind when I renamed my Web page. I'm going to keep it, but if anyone had seen it on a Space:1999 site, please let me know off-list. And, I forgot to mention - I'd still like some more submissions! If you can, read what's there and send in your own submission...please! :) Anthony __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I like the way the episode was put together, I LOVE the library music in it, the climax was well done and Marty and the gang did a good job at conveying the danger of it all and I liked the show... but after all that, it is painfully obvious all they are really running from is soap suds. But you gotta love how sincerely they all played it for. By the way, I heard that the invasion of the soap suds onto the moonbase wasn't really the fault of the space brain at all. It was the fault of the new Moonbase Alpha laundry technician, his name was Bobby Brady. Those of you who are steeped in pop culture, just like me, just had a good laugh now. Altavista.com's translations are rough at best. They help you get the gist of what a page is about, but the grammar and idioms are laughable. Andre Boutet kindly has agreed to do the French translation, and here is what altavista spewed out, translating the French back to English: Welcome on Space: 1999 Net, a collection of Internet sites having for topic Cosmos 1999. Each site which you low find at summer conceived by an amateur different of Cosmos 1999. If you wish to make a comment on our principal site, that which includes all the others, send an e-mail to Space: 1999 Net. To comment on a site in particular, you must write directly with that or that which deals with this site. The French page (not yet quite complete though) can be accessed and linked to at http://space1999.net/francais.html Mateo is working on a Spanish translation, which will be at http://space1999.net/espanol.html when complete. There will be an Italian page too; I don't have the URL yet, as I forgot to ask how to say "Italian" in Italian... I liked the tragic ending of the episode. It wasn't Alpha's fault their path passed through the brain. For a different ending read John Rankine's novelization in "Lunar Attack." In the story, the brain rejects the moon and shoots it to "a totally different quarter of space." Then Helena says, "I wonder what damage we did to the Brain?" The mood at the end of the story (and the book) is different from the mood at the end of the episode. ______________________________________________________ Get your free web-based email at http://www.xoom.com Birthday? I remember back in 1976 when I first saw this episode, there was a sports event that went overtime (of course), pre-empting the first few minutes of "Space Brain" (I'd like to see "Space: 1999" run over into the first minutes of a football game, but I digress). I fully expected to miss the opening credits and sure enough, the episode was in full swing, with eagles being sent out to investigate the mystery of the week and a 'meteor' strking the moon. Imagine my surprise when, a few seconds later, those magical words "Starring Martin Landau" appeared on the screen...and without the usual drumroll to warn me! Definately, a long teaser! ______________________________________________________ Get your free web-based email at http://www.xoom.com Birthday? Anniversary? Thanks for including my humble contribution - hopefully it will inspire others to also submit their inspirational stories/contributions, thereby sharing them with a wider audience. For those who can't wait until more inspirational stories are included at Tony-Island, I'd like to reccommend the guestbook section in Marcy's CyberMuseum site - last time I looked, it contained a wealth of similar experiences. I also especially enjoyed Nick's cartoon - any more on their way, Nick? Anthony, regarding the title "Memories of the Future": Although I can't answer your question as to its possible origin elsewhere, in my opinion it is a perfectly suitable title for that particular section of your site - I wouldn't change it. Saul Rubinek wasn't the original actor cast in that part. The first actor (David Rappaport) attempted suicide and was hospitalized during production and another actor had to be hired to redo scenes already filmed and to finish the episode. Rappaport's second attempt at suicide succeeded. ______________________________________________________ Get your free web-based email at http://www.xoom.com Birthday? Anniversary?
