Why is SPACE 1999 always still favorite?

In Germany came the series under the title MOONBASE ALPHA 1 on TV from Sept 1977 til Nov 1978 in 14-days-distance on sunday evening at 6.15 pm on public TV. Private commercial channels we got first in the middle of the 80`. :-) The publice TV in Germany cutted and shorted the most american series or don`t send all epiodes. In this case here we see 17 episodes of teh 1st season with Prof. Bergman and only 13 episodes of the 2nd season with maya. We never saw here in Germany the Title-melody! only 15 seconds the sound of OxygeneII by Jean-Michel Jarre. Scandal !!!! szszs and i am afraid that the series wasn`t so favorite at the masses like at the Sci-Fi-Fans. I want to know is: Is it really true that many gay TV-Fans like John koenig, Alan carter, Paul Morrow etc? Why? Love and kisses to all gay fans of SPACE 1999 !!!!
