I voted for Miya, what man wouldn't give anything for a woman with the ability to change her shape at will? Imagine the posibilities!

Well......I find it interesting that science-fiction offers a wide array of sexual posibilities and most shows are too timid to explore them. One cannot help but notice that the women of Moonbase Alpha seem as chaste as nuns at times. To me the real mystery of Space 1999 is not what Commander Konig saw in Dr. Russell, but what Martin Landau saw in Barbara Bain. At least the Commander seemed cut from stronger moral fibre then Kirk, who had almost as many conquests as James Bond and was therefore just as shallow for it. I guess if you're like me and like your sci-fi with a bit of spice sometimes there is always LEXX and Heavy Metal magazine.

Got to remember the 70's censors helped keep that alphian chicks with being chaste. There was at least one child so at least someone was doing it.

Actually, I think with all that time of their hands they would have got bored and well you know...

The Moonbase might be real interesting the solarium or whatever the sun room was called with today's network censors...

The first time I ever saw the Solarium I have expected to hear a voice-over saying "Welcome to Hugh Hefner's Moonbase". Television censors are an odd group. In the 70's Hawkeye on MASH could have sex with anyone and Archie Bunker could call Jews names "Yid" and "Heeb".....but if people trapped in space want to get a little nookie that is just unacceptable. (sigh) Now the pendulum has come the other way. We see much in the way of sex on LEXX, Farscape, even sitcoms like FRIENDS. However PC sensabilities have made the use of racial epithets and stereotypes even for purposes of satire to attack such stereotypes is not allowed. Oh well...

My favorite character is John Koenig, of course but there's plenty other interesting characters.

Dites, les francophones, manifestez-vous sur ce forum : c'est la premire fois de ma vie que je peux discuter Cosmos en direct-live avec le monde entier! Cela ne vous dit pas de faire une ballade sur la base au clair de lune? Je me demandais justement quand vous m'inviteriez prendre le th? laugh.gif (Citation de Marcel la Cervelle);

Victor Bergman has always been my favorite character. He's like the finest teacher you ever had; the one who could get you excited and fascinated by anything just by saying a few well-chosen words about the subject.

Victor also has the best character moment in the entire two-season run of the show. It comes at the very end of "Black Sun," where he breaks the "fourth wall," looks at the camera, flicks his cigar and smiles directly to you, the viewer. That moment never fails to brighten my spirits.

It was a tough choice between Victor and Maya, but Victor won out in the end. unsure.gif

I have to agree somewhat. I always thought that Victor would be like the Uncle everyone loves to invite over for Dinner and a Beer. I bet in real life Barry Moorse is as likeable as his character. smile.gif

MAYA!

http://www.flamegrape.com/maya/

I thought Maya had so much potential for a great character but it was wasted and the result was a dippy, love sick cheerleader pining over Toneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey.

I thought the character did have her good moments. I really liked Maya in Journey To Where; the "science officer" role was truly at work. I also enjoyed her performance immensely in AB Crysallist (LOL..DAMN!! I can never get that spelling down right). ....perhaps it was because Verdeschi was conspicuously absent and she wasn't playing the high school steady. I also thought she gave a fine performance in The Metamorph.

The only episode of s2 that I consider at best "OK" and watchable on a semi regular basis was The Seance Spectre. Maya was pretty good in that one and I thought that the transformation into a little girl to get herself "unstuck" in the Eagle was actually quite clever...no cheesy monster transformation.

..oh well..to what might have been. sad.gif

Well, I'd vote for Maya, both for my like of the actress Catherine Schell and for the character of Maya. Also Maya as a character is loaded with unused potential, both for her abilities and alienness (Is that a word?) and for the danger she represents. The danger she could inflict on the alphans if she chose to do so and for the danger she draws to the base just because she's Maya!

I mean, Superman could take out the East Coast without breaking a sweat if he decided to go off the deep end and Maya is just a smart, lonely alien woman who has no experiance with humans or people beyond her crazy father. Imagine the therapy sessions! My Father blew up my Planet!

The other day my wife had to go in my wallet to get some bank papers I stashed there and she always says, I hate going into your wallet, it's an invasion on your privacy.
So I asked why and she joked what if i see a picture of your girlfriend? I said something like...what type of girlfriend do you think I would have and she says....Miya (Pronouced MeeYah)
Maya, you mean? So I pull out my pictures and of course it's my son, daughter and my wife. I point to my wifes picture and say, here's my girlfriend! Then I said actually, it really is Maya, I told her to look like you for the picture to fool you!

cool.gif

I think Alan is also a fine character loaded with unused potential. All the characters at one time or another had some out of character episodes. Victor (IMO) in Deaths Other Dominion, Alan in The Mark of Archanon, All the resident Alphans in Journey to Where (Who needs Nature???What does that mean, they'd be trading one barricks for another!)

As for sex on Alpha, I do remember Paul Morrows remarks about his journey through the Black Sun, when the survival eagle returns he says "It was Fantastic!" After spending those last hours with Tanya! wub.gif

Also I love the "Mrs Robinson" shot in Force of Life when Anton first goes into the Solerium and the shot the scene through the bent legs. I was wondering if Dustin Hoffman was coming through the door!

Speaking of which, plenty of married couples around Alpha as well, I just which we could have seen more domestic life besides the Kelly and Co doing the puzzle and Anton and his wife waking up to get to work.

Flamegrape, I've seen your Maya pages before....excellent work dude! I love them. wub.gif

Oh! And as for Barbara Bain and Martin Landau, if you've ever seen some of the earlier pictures of Barbara around the time Martin was courting her, she looked just terrific. I seem to remember an article or interview with the two of them posted somewhere in the last couple of weeks about them fighting a lot, very intense and then they said they made up the same way!

Oh, Season 1 of course! smile.gif

Not the "SAM! TESSA!!!" Koenig. Or the "Bringer of Wonder-Mr. Bugeyes" Koenig...heheheh.
That's what I always think of when I think of Year 2 Koenig.
