I went to the Chiller theater Halloween weekend show yesterday. As usual they didn't have many Gerry Anderson related guests except for Kathyrn Leigh Scott (One of the crew in Dorzak) and Frances Matthews, the actor who played the voice of Captain Scarlet. I saw him early in the day, I usually buy pre-show tickets because this event is VERY CROWDED, and he seemed glad to be there. ![]() I had him sign the A&E DVD jacket, an autograph book and a photo of himself and Ed Bishop from a recent Fanderson event (Probably Stand By For Action?) which had already been signed by Ed. Very nice in person, I had only met Shane Rimmer before, that's the extent of my meeting people who had worked on the Supermarionation shows. I had thought he might have been a little bitter about his work on Scarlet....or my not knowing his other work but that didn't happen. I had gotten that impression from reading an interview with in the FAB magazine. ![]() We had beautiful weather in the New York/New Jersey area for Halloween weekend. SO on Saturday the convention became so overcrowded the Fire Marshall threatened to shut it down! I had been in a function room listening to talks for a few hours and when I came out I left the floor and couldn't get back into the hotel! I managed to get into the autograph tent a few hours later, all the guests stayed an extra two hours at the show because of the crowd situation and I saw Frances later on around 6:30pm. He still seemed in a good mood but tired. There wasn't too many people around his table, I hope he did okay at the show. I had no wait when I went to see him in the morning. I guess there wasn't too many people there who remember Scarlet???? All in all a good experiance, but tiring since there aren't many places at Chiller to sit and relax. And everywhere people were smoking (BLEAH) which doesn't happen in New York convention hotels. The other highlights was an extended conversations with Bob May (The Lost In Space Robot), Sybil Danning who signed my copy of Sybil Danning's Adventure Video (I'll have to send you a scan Martin....you'll get a kick out of it!) Kathyrn Leigh Scott who is very interested in getting a good scan of herself in Dorzak, I gave her the link for the Moonbase Alpha Homepage, Gary Lockwood and Keir Dullea who signed my 2001 DVD...we talked about the Strauss music in 2001 a bit (Dissapointing to see so few people around their table!), took a picture of Ingrid Pitt who guested in some of Barry Morses old shows (The Adventurer I think???), Talked about Main Mission 2000 with Karen Lynn Gorney a little (Interesting conversation!), Kevin McCarthy from Invasion of the Bodty Snatchers, and Tanya Roberts. Whew! |
