I've been working on an eagle flight simulator videogame. I really like the music that was used during the second season of Space:1999. And I was going to favor the use of it's music in the game. But it occured to me that other Space:1999 fans mostly favor season one over season two. I'm concerned that the use of music from the second season would cause controversey. What do you think? |

I liked all the music in Season 2 except for one piece that always makes me want to shoot my television. It's that piece they always play in Season 2 that usually runs either during a fistfight or when someone is chasing someone and it has a cheesy jazz saxaphone in it. Otherwise........Season 2 is fine with me.

Also- Should you opt to use additional music, personally I am a huge fan of what Marty Simon composed for LEXX. Maybe something like that if not in fact his music would work well I think. Might also consider music by Tangerine Dream (Near Dark, Firestarter, Legend) or Vangelis (Chariots of Fire, Bladerunner, 1492).

Since your the one working on the game....unless your going to license it and sell it to us do what you want because your the one working on it! I think I've been on your site before and really enjoyed your work. Not knowing much about making games or programming, would the music slow down the game? Would it keep the game from loading quickly? Most importantly would the SAME music cycle over and over (Like Tetris) in a 30 - 60 second clip? I'd rather have sound effects instead of music any time during the action phase of the game. If the music plays as an intro to the game that might be better. Whatever you decide, let us know when it's update so we can check it out. |

First of all, I think that the game will be designed to function well on a 1GHZ computer. It will probably work on slower machines, but it would be better to have a fast machine. Graphics technology demands this, unfortunately. It's possible that on slower machines the music being loaded during game play would cause trouble. Maybe not. Only play-testing will tell. No, it would certainly NOT be the same music cycle repeated over and over again! That kind of irritation drives me insane too! The game I'm making would not be like that. The soundtrack for Space: 1999 is wonderful in this respect. The music was composed so that little bits and pieces can be mixed and matched here and there. This is how videogame music is composed also. Whenever the game's situation changes, different music themes are played. If things are quiet, slow music plays. If there is lots of action and you will probably die, then fast-paced music with a dire tone would be played. There are some really good tracks of music that could be used as cycled and/or cued music in the game. And, of course, there would be the option of turning the music off. |

I like more the music in Y1 than in Y2. On the other hand, I think that the music describes very well the atmosphere in the different seasons. Maybe is for this reason that I like more the music in Y1.... Bye, Dada Baggins |

I'm thinking about having a means for the player to select a series 1 or series 2 mode. |
