Some of you non-Americans probably haven't heard of a goofy little show called Mystery Science Theater 3000. But back in it's early days on a local midwestern television station, one of it's episodes featured the movie Cosmic Princess. Die-hard Space: 1999 fans may recognize it as two episodes of the show ("The Metamorph" and "Space Warp") that were combined together and released as a movie.

Did any of you ever get to see this gem of science-fiction fandom?

The premise of Mystery Science Theater 3000 is pretty silly. A janitor, Joel, at a mad scientist's lab is shot up into space and imprisoned on a satellite and forced to watch really bad movies. The point of this "experiment" is to find the worst movie ever and use it as a means of world domination. While Joel watched the movies, he and his two robot companions would make fun of it in order to keep sane.

I thought I'd seen just about every episode of MST-3000. I've never seen or heard of it. Has it aired recently on the Sci-Fi channel?

If anyone has copies of MST3K episodes on tape (especially Cosmic Princess)...I'd sure be interested! smile.gif

Hahahahahaha! They only aired it once and it was more than 10 years ago. This episode will probably never see the light of day on television.

I've got a copy of Cosmic Princess. But it is probably a 10th-generation copy of a recording that was probably on an old, cheap tape that was originally used for recording soap-operas.

The video of Cosmic Princess turns up on eBay fairly regularly. I've got a VHS Pal copy of it.

I dunno, Moonbase, but with a 56K modem...as I have...it would be impossible to download.

Ebay is a good idea!

No, no. Maybe I didn't make myself clear. I've got a low-grade copy of the Cosmic Princess episode of Mystery Science Theater 300. I don't have a copy of the actual released version of Cosmic Princess.

While I'm on the subject, Catherine Schell appeared in another MST3K episode that featured the movie, Moon Zero Two. I've got a copy of it, but I don't know if it's in VCD format or videotape.

I've got a poor copy of the MST3K version of Cosmic Princess and Moon Zero Two (Both the MST3K version and the regular movie)

The MST3K I got years ago on the original Space 1999 email list in it's buffnet days. (Actually this was the second list after moving from Quack but who's counting!) smile.gif

It's an MST3K from when the show was local, not picked up by Comedy Central and not as funny IMO as some of the cable ones like MANOS THE HANDS OF FATE or Mr B Flat.

It's still okay but crude.

I remember the Moon Zero Two one being funnier, mostly for the jokes about Maynard Fergerson in space!

Want a copy? Ask me in the summer and I should be able to run off a few at cost. Mid to late July would be best.
