GBA RULES OF THE ROAD |
| Confidentiality—All member names and posts to GBA are considered confidential. Posts should not be released without the express permission of the post's author AND myself as I "own" the list. E-mail addresses should not be released without the owner's permission—my permission is unnecessary as I do not own the e-mail address. |
| Cross posting—Cross posting between GBA and other mailing lists is not allowed. If you need to send the same message to another list and GBA at the same time, then please put the GBA mailing address in the blind "cc" portion of your mail program. The GBA mailing address SHOULD NOT be visible in the "TO" section except of course when sending directly to GBA. This rule is an extension of Rule #1 above. |
| Attachments—the list does NOT allow any attachments—text or otherwise. Please do not send attachments to the list—upload large text and non-text files to the appropriate section of the File area on Onelist.com. |
| Hijacking/Trolling—Please do not attempt to hijack or troll the list by constantly posting messages on "dead" topics. Do not attempt to provoke conversation around your own topic by inflaming passions when posting. Once a thread goes stale, please let it die. While specific examples are hard to produce, when I see it happening I will be sure to point it out and quash it at the same time. |
| Topics—no topic is considered "off topic" here on GBA. You do not have to limit yourself to Space:1999 or even science fiction—any topic can be addressed freely. Posters should be sensitive to the fact that certain topics can cause large divisions in a list (i.e., politics and religion) and should think carefully before posting on such a topic. While "sophomoric raunchiness" is OK, please do not let it get out of hand or drag on for too long. Under no circumstances should "hard core" talk be posted to the list—please see #7 below. (Adult stories may be posted to the Files section on E Groups as an alternative to a public post) |
| Harassment/Bashing—Harassment directed to a member on or off the list will not be tolerated. The atmosphere on GBA is to remain friendly—hostility should immediately be taken private. Bashing—Bashing those unable to defend themselves because they are not on the list is unacceptable. Please do this "off list" in private. Public figures, such as celebrities, politicians, etc., are exempt from this rule—since they are in the public eye, they are open for public criticism. Please note that such criticism should be tempered, but nevertheless can be expressed here on GBA. |
| Language—Language at all times should be kept "TV clean"—some raunchiness is allowed, but please don't overstep this rule by constantly introducing "four letter" words. Cursing has its place and sometimes that place is on GBA, but it should be a rarity. |
