Welcome online Alphans to the new location of the Space: 1999 Mailing List. Some of you have expressed an interest in the digest version of the list. If you want to subscribe to the digest send email to majordomo@buffnet.net with the body of the letter being subscribe space1999-digest. If you want to unsubscribe to the regular list at the same time, you will find the instructions at the bottom of this and all posts. Some minor points: In case any of you notice, space1999@buffnet.net and space1999@buffnet4.buffnet.net are the same address. Adding the buffnet4 speeds the journey a bit, but they both will get there in the end. Same thing for majordomo@buffnet.net and majordomo@buffnet4.buffnet.net. In this list if you hit 'reply' the message will be sent to the list, instead of the original poster. If you want to send private email to the poster you will need to edit the To: line after hitting reply. If there is overwhelming desire to go back to the old way after a trial I will change it. However, every other list I've belonged to worked this way and I generally find it less confusing (and therefore assume others may too). This is a first generation transfer from the PAL tape available in England and looks very nice. Now, you too, can understand little bits of trivia that editing has caused. For instance, how the heck does Koenig get a helmet on his head in the opening scenes? Explained in Destination Moonbase Alpha, but lost in the SciFi Channel's version, Koenig retatins consciousness just long enough to slip it on. ...and that is in the first five minutes, alone. Here is the deal. All of you who have already picked up a set from me of uncut Space 1999 episodes can get this uncut version for $6.00. You have already invested in a set, so I will help you attain that complete uncut set that I have been striving for. (*Same goes for those who bought the BoW tape by itself.....*) Everybody else, standing price is $10.00. I have had to buy a third VCR, so I hope you understand how this affects my pocketbook. I just love to get tapes out to people who can't buy the product here in the States. Maybe the new buyout by Polygram of ITC will help. maybe this will start a huge differences of versions thread, huh? Looking forward to hearing from all of you..... Just a few quick reminders about posting. The address to post notes for the Mailing List is either space1999@buffnet4.buffnet.net or space1999@buffnet.net Either one will work, but the first might result in slightly faster receipt. You don't have to use both addresses--if you do, duplicate notes could get posted to the list. One address--either one--will be fine. Again, when you respond to a note that you received from the list, it will automatically be addressed to reply to the space1999 list. This should eliminate some confusion over replying; but if you want to reply *privately*, you must replace the space1999 address with the address of the person you wish to mail it to. If you have any questions about the list, by all means ask Marcy, Marshall, or I. I will be around for a little longer this evening, and will be checking my mail over the weekend as well. So just drop a line if you have a question.
