I think that this statement is right on the money. The Metamorph is one of the only year 2 episodes that I can watch without cringing. This episode showed enormous promise, but I believe that the hurried pace in which the second season was produced took its toll on script quality as well as overall production quality. So we can't simply blame Freddie. We must consider the fact that ITC waited until the last minute to order a second year - and then they wanted virtually the whole show reinvented. A daunting order indeed - even for the best of producers. Hi Jonathan/Anyone Else Curious: This is so simple I can answer. When you installed your program it overwrote the program associated with these types of files. You change the file extension associations back to the program you would prefer to use by clicking on "My Computer" or whatever you've renamed it to since that is SUCH a stupid name for it (when I was on the ThinkPad I called it ThinkPad -- pretty ingenious, huh?). In "My Computer" click on VIEW, then OPTIONS, then click the FILE TYPES tab. Scroll down until you see JPG and GIF (which will now have the Quicktime icons). Click the icons for them (you have to do the entire process for each file type individually, so once for both JPG and GIF). Click the EDIT button. In the window under "Actions:" you will see OPEN. Click on OPEN once to select it. Click the EDIT button. Under "Application used to perform action" type the full path to the program you want to use instead of Quicktime, then click OK, then click CLOSE, CLOSE. This is one of those things I always forget by the time I need it again, but I just needed it the other day, so you're in luck. (Am I crazy or is "needed" not a word? It doesn't sound right.) I also have never had a program that insistently overwrote these settings to its own preference, so I'm surprised it did this to you. New in the Space: 1999 room in the Cybary is a list of all Space: 1999 writers and directors with their episodes following each name. This is a really interesting way to look at the data, because you can see not only who did what, but, in some cases, how someone responsible for your favorite episode might also be responsible for your least favorite. If you click on "Thom Keyes" in either the Series 2 Episodes page or the Space: 1999 Writers page, you will get to the Thom Keyes memorial page. Here you will find a rather touching, sometimes humorous portrait of Thom Keyes written by Johnny Byrne following Mr. Keyes' death in 1995. You will also learn a little about how Johnny named certain characters after his friends. Something else that may interest you from Johnny's e-mail to me (for the newbies, Y1 is year 1 and Y2 is year two), Johnny Byrne writes: "A collectible note: At the end of Y1 Martin and Barbara issued a diary to all members of the unit. It was inscribed with the title of the show and stamped with M&B's names. At the end of Y2, we all received a small electronic clock similarly inscribed. Both were always thoughtful and generous to the members of the unit." I had two tapes with a total of five episodes. His ship made a port visit to Australia (he's in the Navy like me) and he found them at a Science Fiction Convention in Perth. Unfortunately, I can't get to Australia any time soon. TO EVERYONE - Are there any Australian 1999 fans that could keep their eyes open at cons? If you find them, I will gladly reimburse you. Here are the ones I am looking for: (1) The Commands Of Ikon - This is the one where the alien pretends to be Koening to get Alpha into a war. (2) The Long Road Home - I don't remember what this one is about. Probably something to do with them getting back to Earth. (3) Redemption - This has something to do with the devil, that's all I remember. (4) The Space Crusaders - This is a stupid one, but I still want it. (5) A Moment In The Life - Something to do with some alien kidnapping Dr. Russell. (6) The Other Moonbase - It's like a flashback or something? I think Carter and Koenig get sucked into a black hole. (7) Lullabye - Don't remember. (8) The Deadly Contest - Something to do with the Alphans fighting in a arena or something. (9) Imago - This was one of my favorites, if you can't find any others, I would settle for this one. It's the one where they kill the giant caterpillar alien and it turns out to be a woman. (11) The Comet-Brain - The one where the World War II pilot is part of the spaceship and tries to collide with Alpha. There is also a Moonbase Alpha Technical Notebook with information on the animated series. My brother has it and is sending it to me. Hopefully it might have information on where you can order the episodes. It was written by David Hirsch and was published by StarLog magazine in 1978. Thanks in advance to anyone with info, I have been pulling my hair out trying to track this crap down. One more thing - my friend says he saw 1999 comics in Perth.
