There is a tentative rumor that MPC-Ertl ois planning to rerelease the
Eagle model kit along with the kits for the mk IX Hawk and Moonbase Alpha
sometime in late fall this year. Watch this list for future developments.

The copilot's name was Mal Burns, I think.

Hi grreg, Alphans-

First to clarify a point. This is Marcy the list member speaking, NOT Marcy
the list administrator. Administrative type emails about any list problems
will be clearly marked and usually sent via private email unless there is a
good reason otherwise. All other posts from me are from me as list member,
the same stuff I would've posted to the original list. If you recall I
posted several things like this there, most notably during the Holy War.

>people piss me off all the time with comments and posts (which is usually
>what rips me out of lurker mode in the first place), but i never take it
>personally, think they should re-word their posts so as not to offend me.
>never, never.

I (list member Marcy) like to think posts can create discussion, different
viewpoints etc. They really shouldn't piss people off. I've only been truly
annoyed a few times, mostly by idiots that didn't belong on the list and
never lasted long.

>again, in order to be tolerant, should i re-word/re-think every
>sentence/post, or just NOT post at all to avoid any accidental offense?

Of course you should feel free to post your opinion. However, there is
obviously a pleasanter way to say "you know, i've seen better things
coming out the back end of a goat than year 2 S1999" that takes into
account that there are Year 2 fans on this list.

>of course not. i say what i say, i yam what i yam (popeye/descartes?
>marcy, i'll be disappointed if you don't get this reference!)

I always get those two mixed up... (Lister, D.N.A.)

Subject: Space1999: ADMIN: Digest Size?

Administrative Email

I have a question for those of you subscribed to the digest version of the
list. I want to know what you think of the size. I'm beginning to think
it's too small and generates too often. What do you guys think?

I can easily make it not generate until it gets bigger. My concern is about
attachments. We've already escaped an attachment being posted to the list
because it exceeded the digest size and was bounced only to the
administrators. The bigger the digest size, the bigger an attachment that
can get through to the list.

Thanks,
Marcy

Q: When I go on #space1999, there is never anyone there, so why should I go
on?

A: Here's a suggestion....e-mail your fellow Alphans and agree on a time to
meet on the channel. It's open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and I don't
have to be there in order for Alphans to communicate with each other.

I'm sure those on the list would enjoy talking to fellow listmembers and
exchanging ideas and viewpoints there as well as on this list.

Just go to http://www.lonet.ca/res/jward/ward/irc.htm

Hi all,

I'm heading to the airport as soon as I finish typing
this message, I'm off to 9 days of fun snow at Winter

I wish I had decided on a Notebook PC before, so I
could read mail on Vacation(Yes, Iknow, I need help).
I think I'll find plenty to occupy my time though.
I'd like to ask that nobody send me Binary

be able to hold all the list mail while I'm gone as
long as I don't get any whopper files(please! no

Go into the Control Panel, click on the Fonts Icon, click on File and
select Install New Font. You should get an installation window. Select the
drive and folder with the fonts, highlaight the desired ones or just press
<Select All>, and the fonts should be installed.

I agree with alot of what you said. While I liked Year 1 better even back
then, Year 2
did catch my eye. I was upset that Victor was gone, but the pilot episode
METAMORPH would easily stack up against the best epsisodes of year one and
stood on its own merits as well. After seeing that episode, I thought 1999
could only get better. Then the following week they showed THE TAYBOR and I
realized that
the series was not always going to be "bigger, better, more exciting than
ever" as the ads promised.

While an action fan, even as a teenager I found the "sterile" and "serious"
atmosphere of 1999 anything but boring. Then again, I'm one of the few who
liked BLADE RUNNER when everyone else was clamoring for ET and STAR WARS.
Speaking of STAR WARS, I'd have preferred alot more scenes with Obi-Wan
Kenobi.
I remember seeing Star Wars in 1977 and the first thing I thought of (as
they showed the vast ocean of space in the opening scenes) was that our
moon should have slowly drifted across the screen........

No, the most anyone asked for was a copy of a single episode. No
one here has ever heard of this series. If you truly want help, you must
prove that it exists.....

Suspicion is perfectly natural in this situation. Skepticism is
even more natural.
Rudeness? The reaction was very mild, overall....people just aren't
willing to be taken in simply on the word of a complete stranger.

I've got the 'Hustler' spread Catherine Schell did in her Maya
makeup, Mike. Want a copy? $175.00, pre-paid....trust me.

So why not send THOSE people copies, or faxes of this supplement
(which again, no one else has ever heard of?)

Ah, well, it would be so easy for you to prove us wrong, Mike....so
easy. You could make the 'neo-nazis' around here choke on it, but i fit
really means so little to you....

I can't speak for what you may have recieved in private emial, but as
far as the list goes... I don't remember anybody threatning you, or calling
you a liar.
Look at it from out point of view. There are 250 of us on the list
right now, and more have come and gone. We are from all around the world,
and from every age group, and walk of life, and every gender (new teachings
trying to tell us there are five now, but thats another topic). And none, I
repeat NONE of these people, in all their travels, in specific search for
SPACE:1999 material, have never, under any circumstances, come across
anything like you claim to posses. Not even the people who worked on the
original show.
With that said, can see how amased we are at the possibility?? We all
asked for more info, who, what, where, when, and even why. But we got
nothing. You never responded to any of it. So, must think, given the
information we have, that it must be a hoax. I told you I was, right now,
talking to your long lost brother, would you simply believe, or want proof??
You may even call me a liar, 'cause you know you don't have a brother here.
And if I don't respond to provide that proof, I must be putten you on. Thats
how we feel at the moment. And the fact that you are getting so deffesive,
at the thought of having to send copies of tapes or the TN sups, seems to
me, from my experience, that something is wrong.
I'm not calling you a liar, or anything of the like. But, I think
something is up. If I had material like you say you posses, I would be
willing to send samples (copies) to anyone who cares to prove it. Hell, I'll
send blood samples to prove I'm human it it would help. Can you see where we
are coming from as a group?? There maybe a few individuals who may have said
things in private, but don't judge us all by a few.
And, did you ever consider, since there seems to be a lack of
confermation information, that you yourself may be the victum of a hoax??
I'm not saying you are, but like I said, something just doesn't seem right
with all this.

This list is, simply, the best you will find on the net. But wild
claims, no response for info, and then extreme deffensive behavior. Oh, and
talk about name calling!! What if I was to tell you I am a neo-Nazi
fascist?? BTW, I'm not. You you were greated with open arms. And we asked
for more info. And we got nothing. And that lead us to think it was a scam
or a hoax.

So please tell us, so we may track it down for ourselves, or help you
track it down. Without the specific info, which we asked for time and time
again, we can't help you.

Then please do. I have not done anything to you in any fashion. My fax
number is (613) 722-1682. And I will gladly look at this material to see.

Is that what you are showing us now, courtsey?? By calling us a

Subject: Space1999: Charleton S1999 comics

I'm adding to our info on the comic books. Sources are now the 'Overstreet
Comics Price Guide' and 'Focus on John Byrne', Fantagraphics Books, 1984.
This is all the info I have so far on Space: 1999 comics published in the
USA.

Space: 1999 (comic book)
#1 Nov, 1975 - #7, Nov. 1976; Charlton comics

#1 Origin Moonbase Alpha. Cover & interior art by Joe Staton (of "E-Man"
fame) ($3.50 near mint; $1.40 fine)
#2 Joe Station cover and interior art ($2.50 near mint; $1.00 fine)
#3: "Bring Them Back Alive" writer Nick Cuti, Artist/Letterer/Cover John
Byrne 22pages ($4.50 near mint, $1.80 fine)

#4: "Demon Star!" writer Nick Cuti, Artist/Letterer/Cover art John Byrne
22pages ($4.50 near mint, $1.80 fine)

#5: "Gods of the Planey Olympus" writer Nick Cuti, Artist/Letterer/Cover
John Byrne ($4.50 near mint, $1.80 fine)22pages

#6: "Flotsam/Survival" writer/Artist/Letterer/Cover art John Byrne 22pages
($4.50 near mint, $1.80 fine)
#7 No info ($2.50 near mint; $1.00 fine)

As you can see, John Byrne's popularity doubled the value of the books he
worked on.
I have grayscale art of the painted cover of issue 5, which is a cool drawing
of Koenig piloting an Eagle by John Byrne, and same for cover of issue 1,
which is John & Helena with moon and eagles in the background by Joe Staton.

Space: 1999 (Magazine format)
#1 Nov, 1975 - #8, Nov., 1976 (black and white); Charlton Comics

#1 Origin Moonbase Alpha. Cover and interior art by Gray Morrow. (Yes, I
know, Victor's brother drew it, right? :) ($3.50 near mint, $1.40 fine)
#2,3 Cover and interior art by Gray Morrow. ($2.50 near mint, $1.00 fine)
#4 Cover by Gray Morrow. ($2.00 near mint, 80c fine)
#5 Interior art by Gray Morrow. ($2.00 near mint, 80c fine)
#6 Cover by Gray Morrow. ($2.00 near mint, 80c fine)
#7 Inside is contents of #6. ($2.00 near mint, 80c fine)
#8 Interior art by Gray Morrow. ($2.00 near mint, 80c fine)

Power Record Comics
1974-1978 ($1.49 cover price, comes with a 7" x 10" 20-page comic book and a
45 RPM record, to my knowledge not using the original cast)
#PR29 Space: 1999 "Breakaway." ($15.00 near mint, $6.50 fine)
#PR32 Space: 1999 "Return to the Beginning" ($15.00 near mint, $6.50 fine)

There were 37 of these record/comics in all, which featured Spider-Man (in
two of them), Planet of the Apes (in four of them), Star Trek (in three of
them, which I do have; they do not use the original cast voices), Superman,
Batman, and so forth.

I will try and hunt down copies of all of these S1999 comics in July.

Subject: Re: Space1999: getting along

Grog@erie.net here, coming to you from Erie, PA. I couldn't agree
with this post more. From the beginning, a core group of very
talented people have run this thing, but when a thing becomes
something more than it should be, you begin to take it too seriously.
I stayed on the list when things got rocky, and posted a note or two
of inspiration, as I really like this place, but I have become a lurker
because the few times I did get on and speak my mind I was shot
down by core replys that sounded like they came from hyper,
over-emotional people, the kind that can get that way when they
become to close to "a thing". Call me a Sanderson, but you've
really got to post a little less and get out more. Am I to take
shots now because I express my opinion, which was honest
and fueled by own limited abilitiy to respond earlier? As Han
Solo would say: "Bring 'em on. I'd prefer a fair fight to all this
sneakin' around"

I like this place, but don't make a list of rules and regulations,
because all you would get is a narrow, one-sided view,
instead of the whole picture, (an Alpha peopled by Regis and
Cathy Lees). Remember, the lurkers make up the majority.

Core Group, you are probably the most diverse and talented
crew on the net, but do yourself a favor and listen; see the
light of day, take a deep breath, and turn the damn computer
off for a while. Please stop taking this too seriously and lets
have some open discussion of how Year Two was an American
soft drink glass filled with disco-porno music.
