Hi everybody -

Regarding the year 1 CD...Wasn't there talk of the same folks who put
out the Derek Wadsworth CD putting out a CD of Year 1 music? Does
anybody know any further details about that, and what might be on it,
and if it is from the same master tape that (somebody on the list)
has?

        Hello!

to answer your question, yes the people who made the year two CD

have plans to make the year one CD, however, they are running into alot

of holdups with Mrs. Barry Gray. His widow is holding it up, for reasons

that I don't know, and John (from "Supercollector") doesn't know if he's

willing to wade thru all the red tape for this CD. That is why I decided

to jump on this CD version of the RCA album, and maybe down the line

John will bring out the other one. Please be advised that John's copy

would not be the same as the RCA release. The RCA release has several

tracks that were recorded by Barry Gray for RCA, and have nothing to do

with the actual show. These "Rock and roll" tracks will be on the CD that

We're trying to arrange for sale on this net to other Alphans. Any other

        questions?

                                            Let me know.... Greg Stone

I would say that this constitutes a private, (it's yours) individual (you
speak only for yourself) response (you are replying to a former note or
thread.), wouldn't you, Robert...?

I think that people want their votes known to the general list. I am NOT
happy with the new arrangement and by GOD I *do* want to talk about it.
So, in my book, this *is* an appropriate thread, and I would encourage
conversation regarding this topic.

Sorry, Robert. No hard feelings, 'kay?

EXACTLY!!! I ASKED ABOUT THIS FIRST, REMEMBER????

That was my point when I brought this up for the first time oh so many days
ago, right when the list opened up. Marcy disagreed but she made the
changes without asking the List. I have no problem with moving the
software package so the housekeeping things get done, like sending a
welcome letter to new members, and automatically unsubscribing
unintentional recruits, but something like this should have been left
alone. Marcy likes it this way, so its changed. Will Marcy and the rest
listen to the List for changes now and in the future???

Waiting and wondering, with the others....

I reply:

I feel the same. I had concerns about the new system, as I essentially
think it's too easy now to send messages to the list that were only meant
for one person to hear, and might indeed be damaging when put in a
public forum, but Marcy wanted to give it a try so I agreed to that. It's
pretty clear to me even before a vote is taken that people want the old
system restored, but I still think someone should collect votes and tally
them rather than jumping to conclusions. We should also give Marcy a
chance to get home from work and assess the situation before
discussing it like it's a foregone conclusion, and then give her time to
make the change if that's what people vote for.

Finally, there is bound to be a bit of shakeout and I guess just general
anxiety with ANY change, so let's keep our heads in the meantime,
please.

Thanks,

Robert

            Well, CADMiester Pete,

All of your questions, save one, can be answered by going

to the website of "www.supercollector.com" where you can find the year two

CD for sale. It is the same CD that you have heard about, by Derek Wadsworth.

As to how much, who, what, when, or how long, you need to see supercollector's

site, or e-mail john at supercollector directly!

As to year one CD music, that's what we're trying to work out, and

we'll keep you informed on this net.

                                                    Take Care, Greg Stone

Should I go for it? Has vol. 6 come out yet? Opinions?

Q3: I have an original S1999 Technical Notebook. Clint Young and Scott
Heathcote of CY Productions sells a copy of it. Is its quality level
higher than the original? (the org. came in a cheap red binder w/ gold
silk screened labeling and the media that was used was a course, flimsy,
construction paper -newspaper like paper) Was it scanned into a computer
and printed on a laser/inkjet printer or is this a photocopy dry toner

they allude to?

Q4: Are the items I've listed the only things available to spruce up

Gotta go do a seal redesign on the spacesuit gauntlets, that moondust is

golf club brackets. The works never done.....see ya later!

I haven't had to much trouble adapting because netscape gives me all the
info on the sender that I need, and I just cut and paste the address
when I need it. I must admit the old way was easier though and I can see
where it could be a real hassle to folks without netscape.

Subject: Space1999: Er, what's all this address problem?

Salute omnes,

Before I shoot off to Wales for the weekend, could someone tell me
(privately, please) exactly what the fuss is about regarding the supposed
"reply address" problem and ongoing vote please?

Is this something to do with people's reluctance to type in a simple
address where it's different from what they expect? Call me old fashioned,
but a few extra keystrokes aren't that much extra hassle, surely?

As many of you know, I use a BBS for 1999ML mail, and it helps keep things
relatively organised. My offline reader is a DOS application (gasp!), and
doesn't like the new ML address - it's too long for the program's "To:"
field! :-) So, to remedy this problem, I ask the question:

Does anyone know of a Windows (3.11 or 95) based QWK offline mail reader,
and somewhere I could pull a test version off? It will make life a lot
easier for me until I can return the PC I'm using to my sister (I did build
it for her use rather than mine... :-) ), finish my own and get it set up
for Win NT and OS/2.

Help greatly appreciated, as ever. Hope y'all have a great weekend!

Peace and love and rock n' roll,

This is a question I'd like to hear from the rest of the list on. I have
gotten some of Keith Youngs flyers about these supplements and they sound
good, the price is good but will it take him more the 6 months to send these
things out once he gets my order.
I know secondhand that he has had some problems hence the delay in returning

from members of this list? He's likely to get a bunch. Anyone got any info
on this?

If its too off topic reply to me personally!

Geez!! You could have just ask me!!

I don't ONLY take Canadian money, but its easier and faster for me, and
for you. Otherwise, we both have to wait for it to clear your bank, and then
mine. And that is fifteen (15) business days at least!!
Now, if you send me a postal money order payable in Canadian funds, the
UEBs go out the next day. But wait!! How do you do that "in Canadian funds"
thing?? Simple, go to your post office, and say to the nice clerk, "I would
like a money order payable in Canadian funds for $40.00 Canadian". They will
ask you if you are paying in Canadian or US funds. They will convert the
$40.00 CND to US funds right there with that moments exchange rate (about
$29.00 US). You pay for it, and a little extra for the "service" of the
money order, and you're off and running. Oh yeah, don't forget to mail it to
me. That would help alot.
Anymore questions feel free to ask someone else. :-) No, not realy!!
Just ask, and I shall answer.

Very nice work and quite extensive. While somethings maybe just out a
little, everything is covered in the five volumes that he has.
I have been working with Keith now for a while. I am converting his
material to the computer, to update it, and bring it up a notch. But it is
taking some time. As I said, his work is extensive.
All the drawings are done by hand, and all the text is done on an old
typewriter. But still very nice to add to the collection.

Subject: Space1999: To all Year One Fanatics

In a message dated 97-03-06 13:07:39 EST, you write:

<< As everyone probably knows, I am one of the year 1 fanatics
who has all too recently posted year 2 jokes. The important
thing I want to convey at this time is, that is all they were, Jokes. >>

Tony, Ggreg, and the rest. I'll be the first to say that I would choose Year
One over Year Two as my favorite, but I still enjoy Year 2. Many of these
Year One fanatics don't like Year 2 at all. That's OK as well. That's what
this forum is for - to share opinions. What I suggest is that the Year One
fanatics focus on their passion - being Year One, and instead of sharing
negative thoughts about year 2, why not use that opportunity to talk about a
special moment of year 1 that they enjoyed. Yes Year two was made for better
or worse and nothing will change that fact.

I would much rather hear deep perspective opinions on Year One over Year Two
bashing and vice-versa. I'm not against voiceing an opinion that's negative
in regards to year one or year two, but lets not initiate the negativity
without a cause.

YEAR ONE & YEAR TWO together are what has broadened the fan network.

48 episodes not 24 has made Space:1999 more recognizable and more possible to
rerun.

We will always have our indvidual favorites, but lets not forget what has
brought the people of this list together.

Peace on Alpha, whether with Victor or Maya

James David
