Unfortunately, I got a form letter thanking me for my interest. A copy of their current hobby product line was included. No Space: 1999 models listed. The list projected kit release dates up to 9/97 so they may be coming after then. Does anyone have anything more concrete in writing? If I recall, this claim about a re-issue of the model kits came out at roughly the same time that "cartoon man" was making his claims about animated episodes. Someone may have seen an opportuinity to throw more buffalo chips on the fire by claiming the models were being re-released. I'm bummed out man. :-( >> I'm afraid I'm a bit in the dark about any model re-release, but I thought I might add my two cents worth on the subject. I worked in a hobby shop for five years, so maybe I have a bit better perspective on such things... who knows? Anyway, I'm not certain MPC/ERTL could re-release any of the Space:1999 kits. If my rusty memory serves, they were all Airfix kits from England that were re-boxed for U.S. distribution in a marketing arrangement with the old AMT/ERTL. I don't think MPC/ERTL actually has the molds. I think they may have been re-issued in the U.K. in the early 80's, but I have no hard data about that, just the vague recollection of a school-buddy who spent a summer abroad one year. On a related topic- the November 1996 issue of Fine Scale Modeler had a nice article on how to detail the Airfix Eagle so that it more accurately reflects the real deal. For starters: -the moonbase (Clavius in 2001) - look at the concentric rings of buildings radiating out from a central point -the space suits (orange/yellow helmets) -the Eagles (not a direct rip-off, but similar in design philosophy to the Clavius moon bus) BTW, I think I remember a moon fight scene in 1999 where an alphan's space suit leg pulled up high enough to see the pants beneath and reveal that there was, in fact, no seal on the leg-cuff of the suit.
