Subject: Space1999: UK PAL 1999 tapes

Hi Gary,

I went around the rest of my contacts today trying to find out about =
these videos, and it's sad news, I'm afraid. A good talk with a guy at =
Thunderbooks in Blackpool (The retail outlet of Engale Marketing) after =
checking the rest of the suppliers I've used, revealed that PolyGram =
have deleted all of the 1999 episode volumes except vols 21 through 24. =
And 21 and 24 are right out of stock at the moment, at PolyGram's end.

They have even talked to the bloke at PolyGram who deals with all the =
Gerry Anderson programmes, and he doesn't have a clue about what's going =
on. No surprise there, after I talked to PolyGram yesterday. You could =
take it as possible confirmation of a rumour that all the episodes are =
going to be remastered and rereleased, but I'd give that about as much =
credibility as my being called up to open the batting for England this =
summer.

No mention of Space:1999 directly on the PolyGram website either, for =
that matter. I get the feeling that PolyGram aren't too bothered about =
Space:1999 at all; their attitude reeks of a complete lack of commitment =
on their part.

And to illustrate my point further, there have been a glut of sci-fi tv =
series theme albums just recently, and none of them have Space:1999 =
music on at all. Not even the album released by PolyGram, which has all =
the popular Gerry Anderson puppet show themes, but not Space:1999.

In my book, PolyGram stand accused of gross neglect of Space:1999 and =
its fans, and it's going to take something pretty damned special to =
convince me otherwise.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I thought I should get as full a =
picture as possible and let people know.

Peace & love & rock n' roll,

I saw this note and was wondering if these books are really going for that

are quite expensive, from the $300 light saber to the $125 1999 Stun Gun
offered by the SciFi Channel magazine ads, but didn't know the promo books

I don't know if Boomer wrote a time-line (perhaps I missed that); but I do
know of a time-line written by Shane Johnson, however. Shane's is located
in the Cyber Museum (http://space1999.net) under "Works of Today's Alphans."

Boomer, did you write a time-line too?

I just watched Ring Around the Moon uncut for the first time (I've been
re-watching them all since I recieved the tapes from Michael Perry, and I
saved this one for last) and there's a scene in the very beginning where he's
strangling Kano (they were really into that strangling stuff in year one) and
then Kano is thrown across the room in such a strange way that it almost
seemed that he was pulled by a cable (that was later touched up and taken
out). I've never seen a move like that. Also (as with other year one
episodes) I found it strange that Clifford was strangling Kano for a good 6-7
seconds and during that time, it appeared as though no moved, said anything,
or tried to help!! It was only after Kano had his flying lesson that Paul
and the others came to his rescue. If you've got a copy, pop it in and check
it out.

Hi Don, Alphans:

Here's John "Boomer" Boomershine's e-mail address
<boomer@soulcage.inmind.com> although I don't recall him having a
timeline.

Shane Johnson, author of a number of Star Trek and Star Wars
books/blueprints and past list member, did rework the one from the
"Technical Notebook" into a more extensive and accurate timeline for
an upcoming Space: 1999 project he is working on and it's available
from Marcy K's Cyber Museum at
<http://space1999.net/Fans/Shane.html>.

Hi all,

Unfortunately, the Image Entertainment laser disc of that episode is not
complete. It has been cut of 1 minute 10 seconds at 35 min 52 sec just
after professor Bergman says "We've been thinking of them as people,
what if they're not!" They cut the end of the conversation between
professor Bergman and Commander Koenig and the part in the Medical
Center when Dr Matthias says to the commander that Dr Russell doesn't
have much time. Strangely, the laserdisc produced in Japan has Ring
Around the Moon complete! The only part missing on the japanese
laserdiscs is Lowry's cut finger in Mission of the Darians. Is a cut
finger offensive in Japanese culture? In my opinion, the corpses of
Death's other Dominion and Dragon's Domain are a little bit more
troubling than Lowry's cut finger! Any Japanese member on the list that
could tell us?!

I wonder when we will have a perfect release of all the 48
episodes....?! Why not on DVD and for 1999?! :)

Let's pray the M.U.F!!! :) ..... or Polygram :(

Take care,

Catherine Bujold

Hi Michael, Alphans:

Sorry to say that I can't help you with this one. I suspect the reason
that the Laser Disc covers haven't popped up on the net is because of
their size. For most flatbed scanners it would require 2-4 scans to
get the entire cover, then the pieces (scans) would have to be
artfully reassembled into the full cover. This would require quite a
bit of skill and would be rather time consuming.

Hi, Terry, Tony, Alphans:

Could the model builder be *Martin Bower* instead of our *Terry
Bowers*?

Martin Bower did indeed build models for Brian Johnson and Space:
1999, including the "doomsday weapon" from "War Games" among others.

Greetings all,

I'm just curious if theres anyone here on the list who's tried (or
even thought of) to create a 1999 rpg? or perhaps adapt an existing
game?

I've thought of it more than once but my memory of 1999 isn't perfect
and I can't always remember dates from the 1999 timeline for the
background info section of the game. Anyone interested in such a
project?

If you read this tagline then you must be
