Subject: Space1999: OT: Good News!

Greetings all!

I've let you all know some of the worse stuff that's happened to me just =
recently, so it's nice to be able to tell you all some good news for a =
change...

Having had an interview earlier today for a permanent tech support (and =
a bit more) role at a publishing company, I have just been offered the =
job. Boy, does it feel good!

So, party time here, and drinks on me in the Pilots' rec lounge! =
Where's that bottle of scrumpy?

Peace & love & cider & rock n' roll.

<< I strongly recommend this show ("The Fugitive") to anyone who likes
classic
television and any fans of Barry Morse. >>

I maintain the Barry Morse Homepage, which lists many of the credits of this
very versatile actor. By his own estimate, he has played more than 2000+
roles a career which has thus far stretched over six decades (he started when
he was 15). You can access the page at:

http://members.aol.com/starparty/bm_index.html

It also contains an interview and a self-written biography, among other
things! Barry Morse will attend SpaceCon XII here in Portland this September
and will present his one-man show "Merely Players" both in Portland and
Eugene (Oregon) - benefiting The Parkinson's Center of Oregon at Oregon
Health Sciences University.

Other pages can also be accessed from that site, including more detailed
information on SpaceCon and the Barbara Bain Homepage (which I also
maintain).

Happy Surfing!

Hi all,

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't William Daniels dead?? Didn't
he shoot himself in the head about two/three years ago??
He played the voice if KITT in Knight Rider, as well as a doctor on St.
Elsewhere(sp?), and he had a role as an uptight neighbour in Boy Meets World.

     Thanks for the help.

Now I'm not japanese, but I seem to recall from
somewhere, that the japanese mob(or the equivalent)
cuts off the finger of members who fail. I had a
Japanese roomate for awhile in college, and I think
he's the one who told me this, it was after watching a
gangster movie or something. Now I could learn so
much from this man, back then, we were more interested
in getting women and getting drunk(OK, this still
appeals to me), not neccessarily in that order.

Does anyone know if Nick Tate was featured in only certain episodes, or did
he have a role in each episode?

Pat, I think he had a recurring roll, but not every episode. It's been a
long time since I've seen it. Prentis Hancock is also in one episode, if
I remmeber correctly. It's a terrific series. If you have any interest
in WWII at all you would enjoy it.

Subject: Space1999: Space 1999 Items For Sale

I am sorry this took so long to send your way but I could not find a way to
cut/paste my original for sale list so I had to re-type the whole thing
again. I hope this goes through again. I am a computer newbie I'm afraid
:-) If anyone is interested in any of the items, please send me a private
e-mail and I will try to respond as soon as I can. Due to my health
problems, I am unable to go online as much as I can but I will try to respond
to each and everyone as soon as possible. Should anyone have any questions,
please e-mail me and I will help as much as I can.

Please note that all sales are final and prices listed are the minimum that I
will be able to accept on them.

Thanks to all for your time and interest. Take care and have a good one!

Did Martin Landau and Barry Morse attend the 1992 convention? I believe the
last convention with these four guests in attendance was in L.A. in 1986, not
1992.

For your information, Nichelle Nichols' brother, Thomas Nichols was
killed in the mass suicide of the "Heaven's Gate" religious sect.

The UK Daily Express reported: "Thomas Nichols was a prominent follower
of the Heaven's Gate sect, who believed that they would be beamed to a
spaceship after death.
His sister Nichelle, who starred as The Comms officer aboard the
Starship Enterprise in the sci-fi series Star Trek, was devastated to
learn that her younger brother was among the 39 victims.
Last night, the actress's manager Jim Meecham said: "This
tragedy was a great shock to Nichelle. She and her family are terribly
grieved by the death of Thomas."
Nichelle had not seen her brother for a long time. Mr Meecham
added: "Part of the organisation's philosophy was to break contact with
the family. Consequently, they have not had contact for several years."
Thomas said his farewells on a videotape which explained their
enthusiasm for their journey to "The Final Frontier". The cult is said
to have an unhealthy obsession with Star Trek.
The show repeatedly featured stories about extra-terrestrials
taking over human bodies, And Heaven's Gate's members claimed to be
aliens trapped in human form visiting Earth.
"They seemed like a bunch of fanatic Trekkers", said Beverly
Hills businessman Nick Matzorkis, who employed the sect's computer
company. "Their conversations were straight out of Star Trek." The
cult's language even borrowed phrases from the series.
They referred to their terrestrial form as the "away team" - the
same term given to Trek cast memebers who leave the Enterprise to
descend to new planets. Cult followers were known as it's "crew".
Last night it was revealed that cult leader Marshall Applegate
had a long history of psychiatric problems and criminal convictions.

Having read this, I felt an intense sorrow for Ms. Nichols, and felt
that any effort should be made to offer condolences to Ms. Nichols and
her family.

If anyone in the United States would be prepared to Snail Mail our
messages of condolence then it would be greatly appreciated. What I
suggest is a listwide letter campaign to one Email address, and then the
wonderful person who volunteered their address to sned the mails to, and
then to post printouts to the above address.

I feel it would be a fitting gesture on behalf of mailing list members.

Thanks for reading all of this, it shows you care. ANy comments would be
welcome.
