However I want to comment briefly on what Petter said. I never noticed the dead on similarity to The Tempest!!! That was inciteful and cause for much thought. The fact that Koenig chooses to return to Alpha alone not only puts the Tempest in a future setting but it builds upons it. Rather than just transpose it from one time to another, it takes it one step further and asks,"How would the new times and the specifics of the new character affect the outcome of the story?" Very interesting. Mateo BTW I used to say Astheria too--why? I never saw press release material. Before you get all psychological again, this time I chose Maya because I put the Jeri Ryan images up for a friend who doesn't know Space: 1999 or Star Trek but his dinner companions were talking about the beautiful new woman on STV so I put it up for him; and this way I could tell him to click on the face of the woman in the middle of the montage. I love Kate Mulgrew -- always have since she originated the role of Mary Ryan on Ryan's Hope in 1975. Is it her or is it the things the writing has her character do; or, is it that she's a woman in a position of authority? I don't get it. Always liked her. Always will. I've been a member for her fan club(Now Voyager) from day one and have seen her at a number of cons. She comes accross as one very articulate and intelligent lady. I've heard all of the complaints about her voice, smoking, the way she walks, her hair, etc. and can't figure them out. When I first saw picture of Jeri Ryan. I and most of the female Trek fans felt that Voyager had finally gone for the T&A crowd. After seeing her performance( as 7 0f 9) in Voyager I would have to apologise to her. She ranks up there as one of my favorites. Actually, I don't find it illogical or abstract, its dialogue in the beginning could have been improved a little though. A lot of people had trouble with the Hawks on this list, and how Victor and Crter Knew what they were. I think maybe a little more clarification on this would have helped. I find no problem with that, to me that means many others were drawn to this show in the same fashion, and they have almost as much good taste as me :-) > > You have a forceful way of expressing yourself when it comes to episodes > you don't like too much, however. Bull! What the hell are you talking about, dammit! I never...... Seriously, I don't think being honest about my own feelings/views/opinions is being forceful. If I shunned or ridiculed someone for not agreeing with me, I think that would be forceful. > You remind me a bit about Ggreg there. I miss his onlist commentary, however, Gregg's opinions are sometimes too stong for vertain people, although they never bugged me. I'm in this list for the long haul, even if I drift into lurk now and then, I still love the posts and the show. *********************************************************** Online Alpha - The Space: 1999 Mailing List To unsubscribe: send email to majordomo@buffnet.net and in the body put unsubscribe space1999 *********************************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Jan 1998 21:00:50 EST From: LKJ1999 <LKJ1999@aol.com> Subject: Space1999: A question about My question's Do You the people on this list like My question's.
