I personally find Missing Link to be a "beautiful" episode with an Alien
world and culture that is truly "alien". However I want to comment
briefly on what Petter said. I never noticed the dead on similarity to
The Tempest!!! That was inciteful and cause for much thought. The
fact that Koenig chooses to return to Alpha alone not only puts the
Tempest in a future setting but it builds upons it. Rather than just
transpose it from one time to another, it takes it one step further and
asks,"How would the new times and the specifics of the new character
affect the outcome of the story?" Very interesting.

Mateo BTW I used to say Astheria too--why? I never saw press release
material. Is it in the Technical Notebook that way?

Cool! Just a real pity I'm offline at work! I sure hope we get a chance

With shipping each tape comes to about $25. From the Cybrary's
Collectibles/Currently Available Collectibles/Music & Video section:

As of mid-November 1997, 20 episodes of Space: 1999 became available
by subscription in the United States from Columbia House RE/TV Video
Library. The planned release order of these Space: 1999 VHS cassettes
is as follows. Note that each volume contains one episode from Series
1 paired with a second episode from Series 2.

       1. Breakaway/The Metamorph
       2. Voyager's Return/The Exiles
       3. Missing Link/A B Chrysalis
       4. Earthbound/The Dorcons
       5. Ring Around the Moon/New Adam New Eve
       6. Alpha Child/Dorzak
       7. End of Eternity/Space Warp
       8. Space Brain/The Beta Cloud
       9. Mission of the Darians/One Moment of Humanity
     10. Black Sun/Seed of Destruction

Once the initial video ships, further volumes are planned to follow
every four to six weeks. Subscribers will then have ten days to
review each video and to return it with no further obligation.
Subscriptions may be canceled at any time, and based on how these
first ten volumes sell, the remaining 28 episodes of the series may be
released as well.

The price for each VHS volume is $19.95 plus shipping and handling, as
well as any applicable sales tax. The first volume (Breakaway and The
Metamorph) will be priced at only $4.95.

To order by credit card, call (800) 538-7766, and tell the sales
consultant you are interested in ordering "Space: 1999 The Collector's
Edition."

Before you get all psychological again, this time I chose Maya
because I put the Jeri Ryan images up for a friend who doesn't know
Space: 1999 or Star Trek but his dinner companions were talking
about the beautiful new woman on STV so I put it up for him; and this
way I could tell him to click on the face of the woman in the middle
of the montage. Simple.

Point noted and the page revision is uploading now. Thanks.

Why do people not like Kate Mulgrew? I love Kate Mulgrew -- always
have since she originated the role of Mary Ryan on Ryan's Hope in
1975. Is it her or is it the things the writing has her character
do; or, is it that she's a woman in a position of authority? I
don't get it. Always liked her. Always will. (Even if I can take
or leave Voyager.)

I couldn't agree with Robert more. I have always liked her. I've been a
member for her fan club(Now Voyager) from day one and have seen her at a
number of cons. She comes accross as one very articulate and intelligent
lady. I've heard all of the complaints about her voice, smoking, the way
she walks, her hair, etc. and can't figure them out.

When I first saw picture of Jeri Ryan. I and most of the female Trek fans
felt that Voyager had finally gone for the T&A crowd. After seeing her
performance( as 7 0f 9) in Voyager I would have to apologise to her. She
ranks up there as one of my favorites.

My fiance hates Space:1999, well maybe hate is too strong, yet even she
found Dragons Domain engrossing and mildly terrifying.

a, oh, am I being slammed for not liking the "cerebral episodes"? JK.
Actually, I don't find it illogical or abstract, its dialogue in the
beginning could have been improved a little though. A lot of people had
trouble with the Hawks on this list, and how Victor and Crter Knew what
they were. I think maybe a little more clarification on this would have
helped. John Koenigs falling toward oblivion monologue was timeless!!!

I liked ATAP a lot, in fact at the beggining of Eagle One, the words
"Another Place, Another Time" flash briefly before the game starts. So yes,
it had a big impact on me. I just like Sunset better.

Othodox...hmmm...I didn't know I was supposed to come up with an eclectic
list? I find no problem with that, to me that means many others were drawn
to this show in the same fashion, and they have almost as much good taste
as me :-)

Bull! What the hell are you talking about, dammit! I never......

Seriously, I don't think being honest about my own feelings/views/opinions
is being forceful. If I shunned or ridiculed someone for not agreeing with
me, I think that would be forceful.

> You remind me a bit about Ggreg there.

I am unsure how to take that.....:-\

Funny you should say that.....

I miss his onlist commentary, however, Gregg's opinions are sometimes too
stong for vertain people, although they never bugged me. I'm in this list
for the long haul, even if I drift into lurk now and then, I still love the
posts and the show.

It is indeed spelled Astheria in the Moonbase Alpha Technical Notebook.
The staff of Starlog were probably using those ITC press releases as
references when they wrote it.
