After reading David Welle's letter about buffnet's lack of plans to =
recreate the digest archives, my only hope is that some of you still have =
copies of the last few digests hanging around. Georgetown University's =
ability to handle listserv emails went down for a period of time (some of =
which overlapped the list's woes too). Anyway, I wonder if some kind =
Alphan could email me from vol. 846 thru whatever digest covered June 6th. =

Was Boss Nass the underwater king who had it in for Jar Jar and the surface
people?
To get back on topic, which character did you like better, Dr. Cabot Rowland
or Mentor (as portrayed by Blessed)? I'd have to cast my vote for Mentor,
Rowland was devious and subdued, whereas Mentor was much more outgoing in
his quest to restore psychon.
I got FLASH GORDON from the library last week and watched it. Not bad but
difinately in the same genre as the 30's serial with Buster Crabbe. Brian
Blessed as Prince Vulta (???) certainly reminded me of Mentor (Hawkman
outfit with plastic diaper notwhithstanding). This time around Dale Arden
got on my nerves, but Ming's daughter was as captivating as ever. I'd
forgotten all about Timothy Dalton being in it.

Other than the part where he got his hand caught in the engine(which was
funny), I absolutely hated the character. The CGI still isn't up to doing
something like that, and the dialog for him was terribly annoying, even
for a small child.
Lucas needs to start writing for at least a 14 year old or higher audience.
I loved the movie, Saber fights were awesome, hated the "dumbed down"
dialog.

What planet is visible right now (between 9 and 10 pm) on the lower
western horizon. When we look through the telescope I can see half a
planet as one half is its night side and one half its day side. This
leads me to believe it is Venus. But it appears to be the same size as
Jupiter appears in my telescope, but can we ever see Jupiter when such
that it is half illuminated. For some reason I can't picture that.

Yep. They cut 7 minutes out of each ep. to make more room for commercials.
It is sad, but most people have never seen these eps in their intended
form, and
never will. It is amazing that cut down to 45 minutes they are even
comprehensible.

I agree completely. They should not show STAR TREK at all, if they are
going to commit this kind of atrocity. Unfortunately, those jerks have
exclusive broadcast rights for ST for several more years. Knowing Sci-Fi
I wouldn't be surprised if they began to digitally put adverts on the
bridge crews shirts - or what about that veiwing screen?
