Medical rooms in Year 1 varied considerably (more than twenty distinct configurations are seen). The two general plans were a hospital ward with two beds (usually on the opposite side to the door), or a two-room plan with one or more observation windows between them. In some episodes, the observation room was replaced with an open area instead. Convex wall units were sometimes used in the corners.

Almost all medical rooms feature a central shelf unit (also seen in year 1 living quarters).

At the head of each bed is a bank of computers. Additional mobile monitors on trolleys may be used.	The adjacent wall is six panels wide. In this room (from End Of Eternity), there are four illuminated panels whereas some Medical Centre sets have a recessed area or a small observation room instead.	View from the beds towards the door. In End Of Eternity there are two slightly different versions of the single-room medical unit set. The room where Helena tries to save Balor's life has two doors whereas the others have a single double door.
Many of the Year 1 medical centres (and Dr.Bergman's living quarters) follow this pattern, seen in Earthbound.	The Another Time Another Place version is virtually identical, however, the opposite wall (usually hidden behind the camera) is different. In this episode there are blue illuminated panels whereas the Earthbound version features standard panels.	Another Time Another Place. Note open area which houses a commpost. We only catch a brief glimpse of the Black Sun intensive care unit	Black Sun	Force Of Life. Trolleys holding screens can easily be positioned.

Medical Centre in Breakaway does not have any computers at all.

Helena's office has two curved wall panels mounted alongside each other.
