Observations: The Testament of Arkadia

The Testament Of Arkadia

During the zoom into Koenig, the floor alongside his desk is covered by a board. The opening and closing shots panning across the Command Office from the communications post to Koenig writing are the same shot.

The Testament Of Arkadia

Note the dumbell rack and Olympic barbell stand (under the windows)- no plates for the barbells can be seen. In the foreground are fixed weight machines (a lat pull down and a bench press).

The Testament Of Arkadia

When the kendo fight finishes, we see in foreground a stand for upright barbells, on which Koenig and Ferro have placed their towels. This does not correspond to the earlier shot which showed two weights machines in the foreground, roughly in the same position. Under the windows, the barbell stand has disappeared, and the dumbell rack has moved left. The rack on the raised platform has disappeared.

The Testament Of Arkadia

For some reason, only the Alphans are affected by the Moon's rapid acceleration / deceleration - the furniture and loose objects on the Main Mission desks do not move at all. Thanks to Marcus.

The Testament Of Arkadia

The Moon's phases do not agree with the planet; the moon is waning gibbous, the planet is waxing crescent. Possibly Arkadia orbits a double star which illuminates the lunar farside only (the far side of the planet might be eclipsed by the Moon) although this is admittedly a rather far-fetched explanation.

The Testament Of Arkadia

Bergman uses a slide-rule. Slide rules, invented in the 17th century, were used for performing mathematical calculations until the mid-1970s when cheap hand-held electronic calculators made them obsolete.

The Testament Of Arkadia

This is the only episode where we see the rear door open. The Moonbuggy, boxes and lights are seen. There must be seats for the two security guards too. This is a single door. It should have an outer and inner door, like the doors between front corridor and passenger module, and the command module, as the passenger module can separate from the Eagle frame. Thanks to John Day.

The Testament Of Arkadia Another Time, Another Place

Footage of the Alphans leaving the Eagle was recycled from Another Time Another Place. When the series was remastered in HD in 2005, Jonathan Wood of BBC Resources altered the sky colour to blue, to agree with the colour seen in the rest of the episode.

The Testament Of Arkadia

Possibly an error; when Ferro goes to scan the trees he handles his camera. Is he just going to photograph them or does the camera have scanning abilities?

The Testament Of Arkadia

When Bergman and Helena enter the cave, we see the skeletons from their point of view. Behind the skeletons is one of the Alphan lights. Most of the skeletons are still sitting in chairs around the table. There is one skeleton laying on top of the table- and one skull with no body. These must have died before the others. Was the head decapitated pre or post mortem?

The Testament Of Arkadia

In the Phase 6 power cuts, Paul Morrow shuts down the Travel Tubes. The power then stabilises at 50%. When Koenig and the others return in the Eagle immediately after, they use a Travel Tube. Later, Luke and Anna go to the Eagle in a Travel Tube. Obviously some of the power cuts were reversed.

The Testament Of Arkadia

When Ferro's Eagle lands, the wires are just visible on the Eagle.

The Testament Of Arkadia

Barely visible are the two horizontal wires, at the top and bottom of the Moon, which move it across the sky. Thanks to James C.
