When an unprovoked alien attack devastates Alpha, John Koenig and Helena Russell appeal for mercy to an alien race that considers humans a plague of fear. Writer: Christopher Penfold Director: Charles Crichton Guest Cast Anthony Valentine as The Male Alien Isla Blair as The Female Alien |
Granted, the “it was all a dream, or was it” ending is cheating, but it lets you do some really fun stuff. How else could we see major characters spectacularly killed off, and Moonbase Alpha reduced to a smoldering ruin, yet still have our Alphan heroes back next week in an all new adventure? And this isn’t just a dream, it’s a no-holds-barred nightmare where just about everybody dies before the final awakening, when we are returned to that point in time when Koenig has the power to change the outcome. Eric Bernard re-edited this episode into a new story, entitled “God’s Will,” in which the events do not turn out to be a dream. The episode shows Victor, Paul and Kano meeting their demise, as well as several Year Two characters inserted with clever editing and CGI. The new story forms a logical bridge between the radically different seasons, as in the end, it is a Year Two cast, sans Maya, which must return and somehow rebuild Moonbase Alpha. In this context, the scene where Victor turns to what is left of Main Mission and tearfully says, “Goodbye, Alpha” takes on a poignant new significance. |
