Lee Montague as Dorzak

Jill Townsend as Sahala

While not a very good effort on the surface, “Dorzak” says more than meets the eye at first. It addresses subjects like prejudice and intolerance, but it still can’t escape the clear cut “good-guys versus bad-guys” mentality Fred Freiberger infused into Year Two.

The story depends on too many plot contrivances, for example, not only are Maya and Dorzak both from Psychon, but they know each other. It also uses Tony’s stupidity to crutch its plot along. The whole audience howls when Maya says she’d love some of Tony’s beer, but it takes Tony at least ten minutes screen time to realize that’s not Maya!

On the other hand, we get a good part for Alan Carter, and even a little romance for our favorite astronaut from Down Under. But it was the last hurrah for Alan: we never saw him again after this episode. From now on, Fraser does all the flying.

Koenig is conspicuously absent in this episode, which was filmed concurrently with “Devil’s Planet.” His absence is explained away with a line of dialog, which is more consideration than Victor, Paul and Kano got in the entire season.
