This was one of the better episodes of Year Two, even if some of the astronomical assertions were a little wonky. It was a story that could have just as easily been done in the Year One format. Maya is greatly downplayed in the story, with only one “token” transformation as a joke in the first of many painful scenes surrounding Tony Verdeschi’s fascination with making beer. Otherwise, it is up to Koenig and Alan to figure out a way home. Helena’s not much help, since she’s fallen ill.

A long time ago, in a fanzine called ComLoC, I speculated that perhaps it was the Kaldorians from “Earthbound” who had tipped Dr. Logan off that the Alphans were alive, inspiring him to begin work on the neutrino experiments which would make it possible to contact them and bring them home. The timing would be about right.
