“The Beta Cloud”

A mysterious space cloud incapacitates the Alphans and sends a menacing creature to steal Alpha’s life support system.

Writer: Charles Woodgrove

Director: Robert Lynn

Guest Cast

Dave Prowse as the Monster

“Charles Woodgrove” strikes again with this story about an incredibly evil alien cloud that wants Alpha’s life support system, so they send this hideous monster that nothing can kill to get it for them, all the while spouting lines like, “Will you please just hand over the life support system and die so we don’t have to kill you.” Oh, okay. Still, the brave Alphans throw everything they can at the creature, and Maya turns into every tough alien she knows. Nothing can stop the evil creature. Until she tries to turn into the creature itself and realizes that it’s not a creature at all, but a robot, so she turns into a small insect and flies into its circuitry, shorting it out. By this time, just about every bone in Tony’s body is broken and there’s a sappy little epilogue in the Medical Center.

Dave Prowse, the man inside the beast’s suit, would go on to wear another famous costume in Star Wars, where he was the person inside Darth Vader (though not the voice; that was James Earl Jones).
