“We meddled,” Helena Russell laments in “End of Eternity.” “We interfered with another people’s justice. We must learn to leave some things alone.” I guess nobody was listening, because here we have some fifty-three potential Balors orbiting above Moonbase Alpha and what do we do? We thaw one out. Then for good measure, we defrost his wife, too. Mr. and Mrs. Balor then set about wreaking havoc on Alpha to build a transport conduit back to their home world and wreak some havoc there. It kind of makes you miss the good days of Year One, when you could thaw out a Kaldorian without having to worry about him trying to kill you, and he won’t even mind that you accidentally killed his brother trying to thaw him. Hell, if you asked them real nice, they’d even take unwanted commissioners off your hands for you.

Jokes aside, it was an okay episode. And fortunately, they got both the “Maya turns into Helena to pull one over on Koenig” joke and the “Maya turns into an old woman right as Tony is about to kiss her” joke out of their system right away, before things got ugly.
