Digging for minerals below the lunar surface, the Alphans discover two aliens in stasis, buried there for thousands of years. Writer: Lew Schwartz Director: Charles Crichton Guest Cast John Standing as Pasc Michael Gallagher as Etrec Veronica Lang as Lyra/Maurna |
Here we have Pasc and Etrec. Or, if you prefer, Balor and son. You would think that after “The Exiles” the Alphans would learn not to revive aliens in suspended animation. Okay, so it worked with the Kaldorians in “Earthbound” but it led to nothing but disaster when they thawed out Cantar and Zova. And let’s not even talk about Balor, that nasty chap they freed in “End of Eternity.” But do these Alphans ever learn from their mistakes? No, they thaw the two out and then the trouble begins. With Koenig and Maya away on a survey mission, Helena, Tony and Alan must play host to their newly thawed visitors. Alan takes a particular liking to the boy, becoming good friends and teaching him to play football. Carter’s big brotherly instinct shows again, as it did in “Alpha Child.” It didn’t take most fans long to realize that Koenig and Maya, prominently featured in “The Rules of Luton,” were conspicuously scarce in this story, revealing to the observant viewer to notice that the episodes were being filmed back-to-back to keep up with the production schedule, using rotating characters. The even more observant fans asked, “Hey, why don’t the Alphans hitch a ride back to Earth, if the Archanons have ships that can go there?” |
