When I was a confused teenager growing up on Space: 1999, I had a crush on Sandra Benes. I think it was because of her tomboy haircut, actually. Or maybe it was that accent of hers. (It was phony.) Anyway, meeting the real Zienia Merton, who played Sandra, was the treat of a lifetime. She’s still just as adorable as she was 25 years ago… and although she and Prentis Hancock re-enacted a scene from “The Last Sunset,” she still wouldn’t treat us to a live performance of her trademark scream. Darn.
