Twenty one year old Susan Thompson stood daydreaming in the check out line of her neighborhood grocery. She had been married to Robert Thompson for exactly one month. She looked down at the shiny gold band on her left hand and smiled. The last two months leading up to the wedding had been stressful. Her parents’ constant interference had nearly driven Robert away. It was the most scared she’d ever been in her life.
One Month before the wedding:
It was a cool May morning at Miller Bluff and Robert was growing wearily of his in-laws involvement in his wedding. Earlier in the day, Dr. Miller had requested Robert join him in the study.
“Now Robert,” Dr. Miller droned as he stared out the front window overlooking the porch, “There’ll be a photographer here on Friday from Texas Southern Living and Style to take Susan’s pictures for the fall bridal edition. I don’t think I need to remind you that Texas Southern is the Bible of Texas magazines and many of Mrs. Miller’s friends subscribe to it. “ He paused for effect. Robert knew what was coming next.
Dr. Miller cleared his throat without turning around he continued. “They will probably take a few pictures of the two of you. Mrs. Miller and I will expect you to wear a respectable suit, not that dime store off the rack suit jacket.”
Robert’s eyes shifted down to his navy blazer and khaki pants. The Millers were always dressed to the nines. Whenever he visited, Robert always felt like he should be in a coat and tie, even though Susan had assured him that he did not. Robert lifted his eye back to the imposing man in front of him. He really wanted to throttle the old goat. It took every ounce of control he possessed not to. He’d been putting up with these daily discussions with the old goat for more than a month now. He tried to remember what Susan had told him the last time they’d made love in the stable. She said, “when he gets to you just think about us laying here naked and know that it would kill him if he knew.” The image of the naked Susan calmed him down, and prevented him from moving toward the imposing figure of his future father in law.
“Is there anything else, Dr. Miller?” Robert inquired shocked by how calm his voice sounded.
“There is one more thing.” Miller slowly turned from the window to face Robert. “About your parents, it has come to my attention that your parents are divorced. Is that true?”
Robert shifted uncomfortably wondering what his parents divorce had to do with what was turning out to be the wedding of the century. “Yes sir, my parents are divorced and have been for years.”
Miller cleared his throat. “Well Mr. Thompson…”
Here it comes thought Robert; it’s always bad when he starts off calling with that formal talk.
Miller continued, “There has never been a divorce in this family. If you choose to marry my daughter, it shall be understood that there will be no divorce-ever. Do you understand?” Miller glared at Robert. “No one in the Miller family gets divorced and that’s final!”
Robert breathed a sigh of relief. Once he put his ring on Susan’s finger, he intended for it to stay there forever. In response to Dr. Miller’s statement, Robert nodded his head to indicate he understood.
Dr. Miller moved toward the corner of his desk. He picked up an envelope and held it out toward Robert. “Mr. Thompson, I contacted my attorneys earlier this week and requested that an agreement be drawn up that specifically spells out the consequences if you were to try and divorce my daughter.”
“Consequences?” Robert questioned.
“Yes, Mr. Thompson, surely you realize that when you marry my daughter your net worth will increase considerably. No matter what my daughter has told us, Mrs. Miller and I still aren’t convinced that you are not after Susan’s inheritance. We’ve taken a few steps to ensure that whatever happens, Susan will be taken care of. We will not allow you to marry our daughter until this agreement is signed Mr. Thompson.”
Robert had heard enough, he moved toward the old man, “Dr. Miller….”
Before he could continue, the door to the study opened and Susan bounced in with a cheerful, “Daddy! My wedding dress came and it’s beautiful.” When Susan stopped spinning, she noticed the terse expressions on the faces of Robert and her father. Her smiled faded. “What’s wrong?”
Dr. Miller’s face relaxed and he moved toward Susan. “Nothing Sweetheart. Robert and I were just going over some of the arrangements for next week.” He put his arm around her shoulders and ushered her out of the study.
Robert stood stiffly, holding the agreement in his hand. He began to read through it, wondering he if he would be able to go through with the wedding. He needed time to think.

As soon as her father released her, Susan went looking for Robert. She had a sinking feeling that everything wasn’t okay. She found him by the creek sitting on a big rock. His was leaning forward; his head was resting in his hands. Moving quietly, she sat down beside him and ran her hand through his dark hair. She whispered in his ear, “I love you.” He didn’t respond. He only sat there without saying a word. Susan’s heart started to pound. “Robbie?”
Slowly he lifted his head to look at her. She was wearing a pretty pink sleeveless dress and white leather sandals. Her hair was pulled up into a ponytail and tied with a white scarf. He saw the panic in her eyes and looked away without saying anything.
“Robbie, what’s wrong?” She whispered her voice raspy and frantic.
“I’m sorry but I just can’t do this.” He pulled her against him and buried his face in her hair. It would be easier to tell her his decision if he wasn’t looking at her. “I can’t go through with this Susie. I love you more than anything I can think of, but I just can’t go through with the wedding.”
He felt her sobbing before he heard it. “I’m so sorry. “ He held her tighter. She sobbed louder and her body shook with every gasp of air.
“I knew he’d get to you.” She sobbed. “What did he do?”
He stroked her ponytail pulling the strands of blonde through his fingers. “It’s not him, it’s me.”
Susan sat back abruptly. Her face was streaked with tears and her eyes were red. She looked at him carefully. He was lying, she knew he was. “Don’t do this, Robbie. We can have a smaller wedding or we can elope.”
Robert pulled a handkerchief out of his pocket and wiped her tears. “It’s not all the wedding fuss, I can handle that.”
“I was right then, it’s my family isn’t it?” Susan stood and walked over to the creek. She kicked off her sandals and dipped her feet into the water.
Robert stood and shed his jacket, tie and shoes. He rolled up his pants and walked to the creek. Instead of standing beside her, he waded across the creek to the other side. “I’m just not good enough for your father and I’m afraid that I won’t ever be.”
Susan looked up sharply, “My father can’t control who I fall in love it.”
“Maybe not, but he can and does control your future. He wants me to sign an agreement in the event our marriage doesn’t work out.”
“What!” Susan stomped her foot in the water causing water to splash everywhere. “He can’t do that! I’ll talk to mother.”
“Sweetie, I hate to tell you this because I know how close you are to your mother, but her name’s on the document too.” He reached across the small creek and gently rubbed her arms. Her head fell forward against his chest and her sobbing returned. “I can’t do this to you. I can’t ask you to choose between your parents and me. And I can’t turn you against your folks.”
“Oh Robbie,” She lifted her arms around his neck and pressed her body against his. “You can’t not marry me. I’ll never survive without you. I love you.”
“I love you too, Muffin.” He squeezed her.
“It’s just not fair!” She sobbed.
“I know.” He leaned down and kissed her softly. “I love you.” He kissed her again. She returned his kiss, slowly tracing his lips with her tongue. Despite the fact they were standing in the cool creek of the water and his confrontation with Dr. Miller, Robert’s body responded immediately.
Susan took his hand and led him back over to the big rock. She stood before him and opened the top of her dress giving him a partial view of her lace-covered breasts. When he moved toward her, she stopped him. “Not a good week,” She said simply. He understood.
She leaned him back against the rock and began to unbuckle his belt. “Susie?” He looked at her questioningly. She only answer was a warm wet kiss that left him breathless.
She eased his pants down to his ankles freeing his throbbing erection. She pushed his legs apart and knelt between them. Robert stopped breathing, he wasn’t sure what her plans were but the sight before him almost sent him over the edge. He’d heard other friends brag about getting oral sex but he had never had it. This was new uncharted territory for them. Susan looked up at him, gave him a wicked smile, then lowered her mouth. Robert saw stars and groaned loudly. Unsure what to do with his hands, he tried gripping the rock but his hands were sliding on the smooth surface. Finally, he settled them on her shoulders, massaging the muscles there with the same rhythm of her mouth on his member,
“God! Susie!” was all he could manage to say. He could feel the built up to the biggest orgasm he had ever experienced. Using self-control he didn’t know he possessed, he stopped her.
She looked up at him surprised. “I’m not doing it right?”
“Oh no, Honey, You’re doing it right, but I’m so close. I don’t want to.. you know…in your mouth. I’m afraid you won’t like that part.”
Susan grinned. If she was honest with herself she wasn’t sure she wanted him to come in her mouth. She leaned forward and kissed him hard and began pumping his erection fast and hard. His breathing became short and labored as she pumped.
She leaned toward his ear and whispered, “For me, Robbie, Do it for me.”
That was all it took he came with a roar, spilling his seed all over her hand and wrist.
Susan pulled back from him and walked over to the creek and rinsed her hand. Then she button her dress back up and returned to his side. She had to smile at the site before her. Robert sat against the rock eyes shut tightly, his face and white oxford shirt were covered in sweat, his pants and underwear were down around down around his ankles, his softening member laying against his skin. She had pleased him well.
When he had recovered, Robert sat forward and eyed her slowly. “Where did you learn about that?”
“The girls in the dorm were talking about it the other night. I wasn’t sure I could please you that way.”
Robert laughed loudly, “Please me?! You were wonderful.” He reached for her hand. “I do love you.”
Susan’s beaming face sank, and tears threatened, “But you can’t marry me.”
Robert rushed to her side, “Don’t cry, please. I do want you. I do want to marry you. I love you.” He reassured her. “I’ll just have to come up with a way to handle that father of yours.”
“I can talk to Mother about that agreement.” She offered
He rubbed her back. “No, I’ll sign whatever they want. I don’t plan to ever let you go and as long as you know I’m not marrying you for your money, I can live with that.”
“Oh Robbie, I know that you aren’t.” She kissed him. Half way through the kiss she started giggling.
“What’s so funny?” He asked his lips barely touching hers.
“Look at us. We’re sitting in the middle of nowhere kissing and you’re pants are around your ankles.”
He looked down and saw that she was right. He too started laughing at the absolute absurdity of it all.
“Well Woman, get off my lap and let me pull my pants up.” He helped her to stand.
“Woman?” She smiled.
“That’s right woman, no girl could just do what you did out here.” He winked at her.
She laughed. When he had finished dressing, he pulled her to him. “I’ll do it.”
“Do what?” She asked snuggling closer to him
“I’ll sign it. I can’t live without you. I’ll do whatever he wants as long as one month from tomorrow I can call you my wife.” He stroked her back. “He doesn’t have to worry about a divorce, because I’m not letting you go.”
Susan hugged him tightly; “I’m not ever letting you go either. And besides, the next time he tries to get to you just think about today. You know that was my first time trying the oral thing. With practice I can only get better at it.”
“I might survive your father and this wedding but if you get any better at it, you’ll kill me for sure.” With that he kissed her and they walked hand and hand back toward the main house.
Susan smiled ruefully to herself. That was the last time that she had performed that little skill. As she moved forward in the check out line, she thought to herself that maybe it was time to perfect her skill with a little more practice. Somehow, she didn’t think that Robbie would mind.
