Catherine Schell

Catherine Schell was born Catherina Schell von Bauschlott, in Hungary, before her family escaped the Communist takeover when she was only a few years old. She grew up in the United States and later Munich, then went into acting, primarily in British productions, but also other (mostly European) productions. She was initially known as Catherina von Schell, before changing it to Catherine Schell. She is probably best known for roles as Maya in Space: 1999, and Lady Litton in "Return of the Pink Panther." After three decades in the movies and television, she (mostly) retired from acting to write and to run a bed and breakfast in the French countryside, with her husband.

There are some resources already available on the World Wide Web about Catherine Schell, but they are scattered in small pockets. This page is designed to link together, for the first time (as far as I know :-), all the known resources about this charming actress, who can variously bring warmth, strength of will, humor, intelligence, and beauty to her roles.

Partial Filmography

These are notable roles, and/or roles for which web resources are available. The latter are a mix of pages here at MetaForms and at other sites. Those at other sites have both the specific page or image linked, and also the main page of the website. (NOTE: Most of the webpages listed are based in Space: 1999 websites, unless marked with 'non-S19 site')

Eventually, additonal links will be made to things like reviews (when written or found elsewhere on the Net), summaries, etc.

Catherine Schell as Maya

Due to the popularity of Space: 1999 (S19), there are quite a few S19 resources, and thus a fair number of pages relating to Catherine's memorable character:

There is an official information service based in Germany (but in the English language). from which you can receive biographical information, a full filmography, occasional updates, and other good stuff. The Information Service also sells photos, and possibly issues of Catherine Schell Career Shots, the very nicely done fanzine from when the service used to be called the Catherine Schell Club.
