| Barbara Bain to Guest on "Diagnosis
Murder" |
|
DIAGNOSIS' NOSTALGIA: Barbara Bain reprises
her "Mission: Impossible" role of Cinnamon Carter for the first time in
28 years when she guest stars with other legendary television spies in an episode
of "Diagnosis Murder," starring Dick Van Dyke, to be broadcast November
13th on CBS.
"Mission: Impossible" was broadcast on CBS from 1966 to 1973, but Bain left after the 1968-69 season.
In "Diagnosis Murder," Cinnamon, with all her IMF skills intact, comes
out of retirement to help former CIA agent Dane Travis ("I Spy's" Robert
Culp), who has been targeted for assassination in a plot that may or may not have
been master-minded by government bureaucrat Alexander Drake ("The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'s"
Robert Vaughn) or international security consultant Barnard Garrison (Patrick Macnee
of "The Avengers"). "Diagnosis Murder" is broadcast Thursdays
at 9 P.M. ET. |
 |
| An interesting side note on this, is that
Robert Culp (with Katherine Harold) were the original choices for John Koenig and
Helena Russell, parts that later went to Martin Landau and Barbara Bain. With
this pairing of Robert Culp and Barbara Bain, we'll be presented with the opportunity
of seeing the chosen Dr. Russell interacting with the unchosen Commander Koenig. |

| Johnny Byrne's Novel "Groupie"
is Republished in UK |
|
"...a book I wrote in 1969 with Jenny Fabian has just been republished over
here. Groupie, sensational in its day, was a saga of sex, drugs and rock &
roll set around the underground (here meaning alternative) music scene of the late
sixties. Its important to me in that it led to a commission to write a BBC
Play For Today 'Season Of The Witch', the project that brought me to the attention
of Chris Penfold, and thus shortly after to Space:1999...." said Johnny Byrne.
A "Groupie" website has been set up by Johnny's son, Barnaby, and contains information
on the book, Johnny's full CV as well as a picture.
Following are the details on "Groupie" from Amazon.com.
