Here's a montage I did of the French title COSMOS 1999 with a background from the new UK dvds.  Since I'm French Canadian, SPACE: 1999 will always be COSMOS 1999 to me ! :-) Although the title they did for it in the 70s was not too bad, it could have been better if the same font than the original would have been used.  The original French titles didn't have a colon but I did 2 versions nevertheless.  So here they are now.

Here's a cover I did for the new STAR MAIDENS UK dvds that just came out since I really didn't like the original too much.

Here is a first draft I did for the front cover of the new novel RESURRECTION from Powys Media.  For various reasons it was rejected but here it is anyway.  Click on the image to see bigger version.

Here is the first Cover for the Space: 1999 DVDs volume 1, Region 1(US-Canada).  It still needs some fine tuning but that's about it.

Click on the thumbnail to see one of the 2 resolutions.

Here is just an example of what a Space: 1999 DVD cover could be.  I did it in half an hour so it's not very elaborate and it could probably be made much better.   But I tried to do it in the same style Carlton did theirs.  I hope it's not Carlton definitive versions !

Why not just take images from the show itself.  There is no need to add all kind of effects and filters found in Photoshop or other image manipulating softwares.  And what about those tacky fluorescent colours !!!!  It just make the series looks cheap.   Why not keeping it simple.  Even if the content is more important than the container, a nice packaging would be nice for the most visually beautiful series of all time !

Just a thought and just my opinion

Catherine

P.S. : I'll try to do more in the coming months if I have the time and I will try to do the Spine and Back Cover too with higher resolution if possible.
